   Hello {tag:firstname},

Esperanza Inlet & Nootka Sound

* Local Chinook & Coho- Strong returning run - read on!!!

NOTE: for those who have fished/caught here in the past, You know, as these southern migrating salmon move down the West Coast of Vancouver Is.

(WCVI) in May & June hundreds of large schools of Salmon come off Brooks Peninsula and stop at our door step to rest and feed in the mouth of Esperanza Inlet and surrounding areas.

This is just one of the many reasons why in the early season (May & June) we have some of the BEST Fishing/Catching for Salmon on the WCVI

Randy Evans masterfully fileting four Winter Springs, 2 limits. Caught at Rosa Harbour on May 5th 2019 with Jeff Nish. They filed the fish box with these 6-9lb Spring in less than 3hrs.

May 3,2019 Limits of Ling Cod & other Ground Fish are easily boated if you Know where they live. Ling Cod 23-14lbs. Stop by Westview’s Tackle Shop to get GPS # on local Hot Spots for Ling.

Best for Chinook returns and retention!

Yes, we are at full limits, 2 per day with 4 possession.

Yes, All of Area 25 Esperanza & Nootka inside waters from one nautical mile off shore all the way into the inside inlets are OPEN for full Chinook limits.

That means the “HOT SPOTS” in Nootka - Yuquot Pt. (the Lighthouse area), Wash Rks, Maquinna Rks & Pt, Burdwood, Bajo Reef, Beano Pt and much more are wide OPEN!

“HOT SPOTS In Esperanza - Outer Black Rks, Half tide Rks on the out side of Catala Is, Rosa Harbor, Tatchu Rks & Pt, McQuarrie & Grassy Is, as well as the world famous Ferrer Pt area are wide OPEN.

Chinook Catching- Anchovies with a green header, 5ft leader with an Oki MoonJelly

Guide Series flasher seem to be the ticket for filling the fish box. Troll at 2mph +/-

Best for retention of Coho on ALL of Vancouver Island and significant increases in returning stocks.

Yes, Only in ALL of Area 25 Nootka Sound & Esperanza Inlet can you retain 4 Coho per day and 8 possession. Yes it is TURE! We are anticipating a hatcher run of over 15,000+ Coho retuning to here this season. DFO wants these fish caught. They are available to catch in both Esperanza & Nootka. Do you want to help?

Yes, Area 25 Coho Fishing/Catching water also extend out to the one mile off the shoreline line.

Yes, again all the near shore HOT SPOTS above are in play. Retention is 4 Coho per day only two of which can be wild.

Coho Catching - Again Anchovies. In a tight spin for Coho. Also 3-4in Lures like “The Hammer” by Peetz in chartreuse, Coho Killer Double Glow & Coyote Glow/Green Chartreuse are working well.
