Fishing is Now Excellent!

Check out our Facebook Page for daily results.

In a nut shell lots of Chinook, Coho are being caught at Ferrer point, low rock, across the seaward side of Catala Island, the outside of Obstruction reef and at high rocks.

Lots of people are catching Halibut inward of the red can at 120 to 90ft and out on the pins, usually the fish weigh from 25 to 55 lbs, with a few century sized, the record for this year set at 148lbs caught by Dale Baker from the Bay Area, California.

Prawns are large and plentiful, the commercial guys left the area last week and things are returning to normal, limits are still 200 per day and 400 possession.

Crabs in good numbers and size are around, talk to John in the tackle shop and he will tell you the best places to set those traps. Limits for Dungeness are 6 per day and 12 in possession, the same goes for Red Rock crabs as well.

There are lots of Oysters available, limits are 15 per day, 30 in possession  .

2011 OFFICIAL SALMON REGULATIONS ARE OUT!

For full details check out the DFO website

No major changes, Chinook / Kings are exactly the same as 2010 where that prior to July 15th you can keep any salmon 45cm / 18in or larger, with no upper end size, After July 15thinside a mile off the surfline all the way to steamer point, anywhere with the exception of fin fish closures at the heads of the inlets, Chinook can be fished and kept if they are 77cm / 30.5in or less, outside of    1 mile off the surfline Chinook larger than 77cm / 30.5in can be kept limits are 2 per day, 4 in possession.

Great news on Coho / Silvers, there is no one mile off the surfline, the line is from Tatchu Point to Ferrer Point. It is clean and simple from June 1st to July 15th you can catch and keep any Coho over 37cm / 14.5in anywhere inside the line, after July 15th it remains open for any Coho with the exception of the upper reaches of most inlets. On the seaward side of the line hatchery marked fish only. Limits on Coho are from June 1st to August 31st 2 fish per day, 4 in possession, September 1st to December 31st 4 Coho per day,  8 in possession.

September is one of the best times to catch Coho in the inside waters around Center Island, 20lb Coho are a regular occurrence in September and if you are a fly fishing person there is no better time or place.

Sockeye fishing is closed at this time. Last year it opened on July 15th, we expect a similar thing to happen this year, stay tuned.

We are very fortunate to be in an area where literally all the fishing and gathering are in plenty of supply as well as fun and easy to get

See You Soon!
