BEST KEPT SECRET ON THE WEST COAST OF VANCOUVER ISLAND

   Hello {tag:firstname},

Fishing/Catching is stupid GOOD!

Yes, it’s true. Everyone - Yes, Everyone is catching Springs/Chinook/Kings & Coho/Silvers. There are huge schools of immature herring inside Esperanza Inlet and on both sides of the inlet on the shore line. North on the shore line from Jurassic Pt to Rugged Pt lots of fresh big springs are being hooked-up in Clear Passage in 30ft of water.

Out in front of Esperanza inlet is still on fire from High Rocks to Low Rocks on the 130ft line. Just run your downrigger down until the ball hits the bottom, then just tap the up button to get your bait slightly off the bottom, then hold on “Fish On”!!!

Down in Nootka Sound The Salmon are beginning to make the turn in at Maquinna Pt. Beer Can Bay, Fidalgo Passage and Coopte Pt. are all producing fish.

Baits that are working: Skinny G No Bananas, Wee G Irish Cream, Coho Killers that also work on Springs Green Haze UV and Cookies’n Cream UV, Coyote UV Blue Image 3 & 4in. Brine Anchovies in a Green or Blood Nose header are always a GOOD Bait to have on board. All the above baits and much more are available at Westview Marina’s Tackle Shop!!

  1085 ronnie 1083 spring

Ronnie Taylor Jr is from Tahsis & on our docks daily with mom Harmony or dad Ron. This 18lb spring is just one of many fish that this young fellow brings to the cleaning tables. Ronnie’s stated goal in life is to be a Fishing Guide. We believe he will achieve his GOAL!

Way to Go Ronnie!!

Mike Mattice from Morinville, Alberta with his 31 lbs Chinook/King/Spring caught by the log dump near Centre Is in Esperanza Inlet on an anchovy with a no banana flasher.

Doug Wilkins with his 26lb Spring. Lots of this size feisty Chinook around this season. They are moving down the shore line just off the beach at the 130ft line in Nootka & Esperanza.

Halibut, Lingcod & Lots MORE bottom Fishing/Catching remain Strong!!

For the same reasons the Salmon are so plentiful the Ground Fish are the SAME!

Lots of Bait onshore & just off shore is holding the these bottom fish in easily assessed catching locations both in Nootka Sound & Esperanza Inlet.

It seems like injected sent in swim baits is the majority choose for success here.

Herring are still the bait for may full fish boxes. Stop by the tackle shop & we can point you to the hot spots!

John, It's great to see you having a great season.

You always made it a good season for us, but this is spectacular. Good Luck!

I hope that it stays hot for the whole season.

PS:

You seem to always have the right jig!

Some call it luck. I say that it is the skill.

Tahsis Inlet Voted BC’s Top Destination for 2019

By www.boatingbc.ca

We asked and you answered! British Columbians have voted beautiful Tahsis Inlet as BC’s top boating destination for 2019 - while Port Alice, Alert Bay, Desolation Sound and Princess Louisa Inlet round out the top-five.

Tahsis Inlet is located midway up the west coast of Vancouver Island where the pristine geography is the setting for some of the best ecotourism and productive fishing waters in British Columbia. A spectacular cruising ground for boaters, Tahsis is home to 500 year-round residents and about 1500 during the summer months, and for good reason. Surfers are attracted by the wild Pacific waves off Nootka Island and Brooks Peninsula, while strong inflow and outflow winds create great conditions for windsurfers and kiteboarders. The areas is also home to world-class scuba diving sites and kayakers can enjoy the sheltered inlet waters, the rugged coastal scenery, and abundant ocean wildlife.
