We are also excited to announce that this derby has now raised over $350,000 over the past 13 years. We are proud to say that “The Westview Marina Salmon Enhancement Derby raises the largest amount of funds that go to Enhancement than any other privately operated Derby on the island!” The fund raising this year will go to support Salmon Enhancement in 6 regional rivers, stream and river rehabilitations, and support 2 high school hatchery study programs. Tahsis Salmon Enhancement Society target release of salmon fingerling is 500,000 Chinook and 250,000 Coho for spring 2018. Funds raised also go to the Nootka Sound Watershed Society to be used to further the Societies efforts at salmon enhancement by supporting the cost of increasing production of Chinook salmon by 1.1 million fish at the Conuma Hatchery for a total production of 4.3 million Chinook fingerlings released this spring.
