May 2015 NewsletterFISHING REPORT: Springs/Kings - are here in Big numbers. Right at the mouth of Esperanza Inlet at the inside Whales Tail. Today dozens of 10 – 21 lb Chinook were boated. Why? - Because there are lots of bait right in the mouth of the inlet. There are thousands of herring post spawn spread out from the rocks on the south side of Catala Island over to the outer rocks of Rosa Harbor. The fish are right on the bottom. The Salmon are being caught on anchovies in green headers with green flashers and 5 in. green image & cop car Coyotes. The great sunny weather got lots of boats on the water. Most of these fish are US hatchery fish. Salmon Fishing/Catching will continue to get BETTER & BETTER as the weeks move forward. By early June we will be in those PEAK DAYS when limits of Chinook & Coho will be the NORM. Ling Cod - are plentiful and limits are the norm – 3 per day per persons. Halibut – are also at the mouth of the Inlet feeding on the bountiful herring. Rock Fish – limits of 3 per day are a slam dunk. Dawne will be job sharing the Chef/Cook position with our new recruit Cheryl O'Donnell.
