Chaos before The Derby

If you were here, you'd get this joke

Well August is now in full swing and the fishing is great.
Here's the Managment to explain:

On Sat Aug 12.
What a Day for fishing. The skies lighted up about 5:30am, and as full daylight approached the procession of boats out of Westview Marina, In beautiful Tahsis BC increased in numbers. Nearly one hundred boats fish daily out of the mouth of Esperanza sound. Last Saturday proved to be one of the most productive days, with limits returning to the dock by as early as 10:00am. The first Tyee (Chinook Salmon over 30lbs) hit the dock at 11:00am - Shawn McCallister, from Seattle WA, hoisted his first ever, Tyee, a 33lbs beauty. Less than an hour later Helen Leete, of Campbell River BC, weighed in a 35.5lbs Tyee to lead the daily Chinook board.

At 3:15pm Tom Anderson, of Port Orchard WA, posted a 41.5lbs Tyee, which everyone thought would hold out, as the largest salmon for the remainder of the day.

Several more mid to high 38lb Tyee were weighed in during the next 3 hours, then at 6:45pm Jade Smith, from Sand Pt. Idaho, Scaled a 45.5lbs Chinook. Wow! That is a great day fishing.
The largest Tyee for the 2006 season weighed in at the docks of Westview marina Was caught by Mr. Skip Slavin, on July 14, it weighed in at a solid 55lbs, What a Brute it was!!!

And Saturday wasn't the only great day of fishing, Friday had it's own race for the big one

Just one of the many contestants

And the other days had their moments as well:

Ben W. with his Dad

And as the saying around here goes "if you can't beat quality, go for quantity"

Don't forget, we still have halibut coming in strong

and now because you'd rather look at pictures.

Well thats all from the docks today, be sure to check in next week for coverage of the Annual Westview Marina Fishing Derby.
